Tengnoupal deputy commissioner Mannuamching and DIG Range-2 Ningshem Worgnam on Friday visited the families of two Tamil youths namely P Mohan and M Iyanar, who were shot dead at Tamu town in Myanmar.
Later, in the presence of community leaders, a meeting was held at Tamil Sangam Moreh conference hall, wherein DC Mannuamchig, DIG Ningshem, Tamil Sangam president V Sekhar and Tengnoupal Golianmang spoke as presidium members.
During the meeting, DC Mannuamching shared pain of the bereaved families and assured of providing all possible help to families of the deceased duo.
In his address, V Shekhar said out that killing of the two Tamil youths at Tamu town has now become an issue of international level between India and Myanmar and not of state level.
The initiative taken up for retrieving the bodies through communication between Moreh and Tamu people has been unsuccessful, he lamented.
While condemning the killing of the two, Shekhar pointed out that many Myanmarese people have been carrying out business activities in Moreh but no one mistreated them.
Meanwhile, another meeting at the same venue resolved to reopen shops in Moreh town while the restriction on Indo-Myanmar border crossing will continue.
As per a source, Myanmar Military Council Information deputy minister general Zaw Min Htun on Myanmar's TV Channel named 'Popular News Channel' claimed that two unidentified people, who were gunned down and found in Tamu Township area, were disposed on the next day (July 6) at 7 am.
Acting on the information received and to prevent untoward incidents, CSO leaders of Moreh convened the meeting to discuss about the killing of auto drivers P Mohan and M Iyanar.
As the bodies claimed to have been disposed on Myanmar channel might be that of Mohan and Iyanar, CSO leaders appealed to the families of the deceased to prepare for performing their last rites as possibility of retrieving the bodies is very low.
Moreover, the meeting resolved to entrust the CSOs with the responsibility of prevailing upon the local MLA, cabinet minister and CM for providing ex-gratia and a government job each to the bereaved families on the ground of compassion and humanity.
While resolving to reopen shops in Moreh town from Saturday, the meeting noted that the DC Tengnoupal in an order continued restriction on Indo-Myanmar border crossing.
All the consequences for any untoward incidents should be borne by the individuals if they violate the order, the meeting added.
