2 dead, 5 hurt as landslide sweeps away Bolero

At least two people were killed and five others injured, after a Bolero Camper carrying 12 passengers including two infants and coming towards Churachandpur was swept away by a landslide at Santing area of Tipaimukh along NH102, Churachandpur district at around 6.50 am on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Baotsaihe of Sipuikon village and Lalnunjiri w/o Malsomlian.
The driver and helper of the Bolero Camper along with the other passengers sustained injuries.
According to a police report, the ill-fated Bolero Camper (MZ 01W-1063) belonged to Tipaimukh Road Transport Corporation Society.
At around 6.50 am on Friday, the Camper arrived at an area between Santing & Saihuon villages along NH-102 and found the road blocked with broken branches.
The driver and helper alighted from the vehicle and had finished removing the debris.
They were just restarting the vehicle, when the landslide occurred and swept them down the hill.
Baotsaihe died at the spot, while Lalnunjiri succumbed to injuries at Churachandpur District Hospital, wherein she was taken for treatment.
On receiving news of the incident, nearby villagers lend a helping in rescuing the passengers, the report conveyed.
