Imphal, July 08 2022:
A 3-day 23rd conference of Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI/MSC) commenced from Friday at Irawat memorial hall, Chalou in Imphal East.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, CPI National secretary Palap Sen Gupta asserted that CPI will challenge the BJP in the upcoming Presidential election and will fight tooth and nail to defeat the saffron party.
He also stated that discussions will be held during the conference to strengthen the party.
In his speech, CPI Manipur secretary L Sotinku mar contended that the present government led by PM Narendra Modi is communal, undemocratic and is trying to abolish constitutional norms and democratic institutions.
In addition to privatising every sector, the government brings in Agnipath scheme, which is a temporary job, instead of a permanent one.
During such times of darkness, the role of communist party is important, he maintained.
Further stating that repeal of disturbed area tag from some areas by the state government is merely aimed at creating a narrative that they have provided democratic power to the people, he claimed that the government led by N Biren cannot be trusted.
While pointing out that there are several issues before the people today, Sotinkumar said the government has been trying to silence any voice raised against the government.
Though there is a union minister from the state, he could not boldly speak on border issue while drug kingpins could not be arrested in-spite of launch of war on drugs campaign in addition to increase in level of corruption, he alleged.
Sotinkumar also stated that despite the honeyed words about the farmers, the government has failed to translate its assurance of providing urea into action.
As such, CPI will boldly fight for bringing changes for the people, he affirmed.
