Responding to the call of the Joint Action Committee formed to press the demand for repairing the road stretch from Bangsibudhon to Lamlong Makha Kiyam Lou-kon, aggrieved locals blocked the said road at Khangabok junction on Saturday.
During the protest, the agitators warned of blocking the NH 102 at Khangabok from April 12, if the government fails to repair the road stretch, which is an important connectivity link for people of Khangabok, by April 11 .
A rally was also taken out by the protestors demanding immediate repair of the road which culminated at Khangabok Lamlong Keithel, where a public meeting was held.
Speaking to the media, Popular Youth Club secretary Th Nabakumar informed that Khangabok villagers have been demanding repair of Bangsibudhon to Lamlong Makha Kiyam Loukon road for 10 years now, but no action has been taken so far.
The deplorable condition of the road has made commuting on the road very uncom fortable for students, medical emergency and general population at large.
Therefore, if there is no positive response from the government on the demand for repairing the said road, then they will block NH 102 which passes through Khangabok, he reiterated.
