Imphal, April 08 2023:
Reacting to comments by Konsakhul Village Authority chairman with regard to inter-vil-lage boundary and unwanted incidents, village authorities of 21 Villages in the surrounding of Konsakhul have joined together in raising the demand for unconditional apology from Konsakhul VA while cautioning of blocking all the roads that connect with Konsakhul with the 21 villages in case the apology is not tendered.
Addressing a joint press meet at Henjang village on Saturday, its chief K Lhouvum strongly condemned the statement made by Konsakhul VA chairman D Adam Liangmai, who claimed that residents of the 21 villages were brought in by Kuki UG groups from Myanmar after 1950 .
Moreover, the Konsakhul chairman also levelled allegations of deforestation, illegal poppy plantation and polluting Singda Dam water, he said, and suggested that government authorities conduct spot assessment to ascertain veracity of such accusation.
Lhouvum further refuted the jurisdictional claim of Konsakhul village over the 21 villages, which include centuries-old villages like Kharam Thadoi, P Molding, Leilon Vaiphei and Kharam Vaiphei.
He also said that amid the restrictions imposed under CrPC 144, Konsakhul residents killed two Sandang (Mithun) of Leilon village, and demanded the government to arrest those responsible.
The 21 villages strongly object to the nature of Konsakhul villagers, who are openly brandishing guns despite the restrictions, and Konsakhul village chairman D Adam Li-angmai for making baseless claims and allegations, the chief maintained.
Further stating that the 21 villages had filed FIRs twice at Sapermeina police station but no actions have been taken up till date, K Lhouvum raised suspicion of the government acting in a biased manner.
He then demanded the government to take up necessary measures to diffuse the tension and book those, who are trying to create unrest.
