Govt vows help in setting up IETE in state

Chief Minister N Biren has assured that the state government will extend all possible help in setting up Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (IETE) in the state.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of a two-day 54th Mid Term Symposium on "Industry 5.0: The New Revolution" being organised by IETE at the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal on Saturday, Biren expressed pleasure to rub shoulders with fraternity of the IETE which is India's premier professional society set up in 1953.He continued that Industry 5.0, also known as the fifth industrial revolution, is a new and emerging phase of industrialisation that sees humans working alongside advanced technology and Al-powered robots to enhance workplace processes.
It also refers to robots and smart machines working alongside people with added resilience and sustainability goals, he added.
Biren maintained that the Industry 5.0, coupled with a more human-centric focus as well as increased resilience and an improved focus on sustainability, allows humans to intervene where required and moves away from excessive automation to incorporate critical thinking and adaptability, while still taking advantage of the precision and repeatability of machines.
Appreciating IETE for organising the symposium, he stated that the institute is devoted to advancement of science and technology in the field of electronics, tele communication, information technology and related areas serving over 1.25 lakhs members.
He added that upgrading the skills of students via ISF chapters in various colleges is a laudable initiative of IETE.
Under the initiative, the institute imparts crucial training, giving confidence to youngsters in not only applying for jobs but also setting up start-ups that offer job opportunities to others.
The chief minister lauded the institute, knowing that researchers working in universities & colleges not only in India but also R&D labs in countries like Middle East, Europe, UK, USA and China consider IETE journals as the preferred medium to record their academic contributions among a comity of global professionals.
This enhances India's image globally, in tune with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make India as Vishwaguru, he stated.
The symposium is being attended by IETE president V Gu-nasekhar Reddy; IETE, Imphal Centre chairman H Kulachandra Singh; TPCC chairman Prof DS Bormane; Manipur University former vice chancellor Prof HNK Sharma; Dhanamanjuri University vice chancellor Prof N Rajmuhon Singh; NIELIT, Imphal director N Debachandra Singh, Prasar Bharati additional director general Sunil Srivastava, officials of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and delegates from across the country.
During the programme, the chief minister also released a souvenir to mark the occasion.
