Imphal, May 12 2022:
Getting employment through die-in-harness scheme is one's right and there is no need to pay bribe to secure such jobs, said works minister Govindas Konthoujam.
The minister on Thursday handed over offer form for employment to 17 beneficiaries, whose parents (grade III & IV) passed away during their service period, at the conference hall of his Secretariat office.
Works commissioner T Ranjit and chief engineer Kh Temba were also present on the occasion.
In his address, Govindas acknowledged reports of many of the beneficiaries spending a fortune to get their rightful employment after their par ents died during their service period.
However, the present government led by chief minister N Biren is putting its sincere efforts to root out corruption and as such the department has made a seniority list of beneficiaries of the scheme.
Getting employment under the scheme is one's right.
However, there is a rule which restricts appointment through die-in-harness scheme to only 5 per cent of the vacant posts and as such, the government is unable to fulfil the aspirations of all the beneficiaries in the waiting list, he said while urging all such beneficiaries under his department (PWD and YAS) not to pay any bribe to secure their employment.
He also asked those, who are getting fresh appointment, not to accept bribes or indulge in any form of bribery.
