Imphal, May 12 2022:
Many important roads have been submerged under the water as flash flood hit Imphal City and its adjoining areas today.
Owing to bad drainage system and dilapidated road conditions, people moving on some of these roads at Konung Mamang, Porompat and Singjamei areas have been facing stiff challenges.
The roads leading from Advance Hospital to Govindaji Temple, AIR Imphal and Andro Parking wore a pathetic look as all types of vehicles, particularly two-wheelers struggled to cross the submerged sections.
Similar situations were seen at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai and Kakwa areas as the roads and houses in the area were submerged up to knee level.
The flash flood created severe inconveniences to students studying at Canchipur areas like in Imphal Public School (IPS) and Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School as their schools' vicinity were waterlogged.

One Ksh Ganashyam who is said to be general secretary of a school van drivers' association, said that students studying in schools located at Canchipur and surrounding areas faced severe inconveniences in entering their school premises.
He said that small kids had no other means to enter their school premises without the help of school authorities or van drivers.
Meanwhile, the level of the Imphal River and other important rivers passing through the Imphal City and its nearby areas were quite high even though they have not reached the warning level.
Imphal River saw a sudden increase in its water level in the early evening with many of the land portions above the river including playgrounds on the river banks submerged under water.
