Man arrested on charge of immoral trafficking

Imphal, May 12 2022:
One Bikash Irom (27), son of Ragumani of Patsoi Part-II has peen arrested by Patsoi police on the charge of indulging in acts of immoral trafficking and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days by the court of JMIC-I on Thursday.
According to police, a Facebook post uploaded on May 7 under an account named Laishram Roshita offered befriending 'her' friends of around 21-22 years of age on payment of Rs 20,000 .
After an enquiry, it was established that the account actually belongs to Bikash.
Hence a suo-motto case was registered under Section 5 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956 and 67(A) of IT Act at Women Police Station, Imphal West.
In the course of further investigation, Patsoi police arrested the accused person and handed him over to the women police station.
During interrogation, Bikash confessed that he uploaded the status from his fake account Laishram Roshita on Facebook story on May 6 and 7 apart from recounting that since August 2021, he had been uploading similar messages on Telegram App to lure customers to his 'business'.
The accused person also revealed that he has contacts with hotels where such immoral activities are regularly committed in exchange for money.
On May 7 too, he had enticed one woman to meet a client for a sum of Rs 40,000 at one of the hotels located along Dingko Road for sexual purposes.
The same woman was rescued and sent to One Stop Centre, Lamsang and produced before District Protection Officer, Imphal West for rehabilitation.
As per the revelations of the accused, a regular client has been identified on examination corroborated with the statement given by the accused person.
The customer/client revealed that Bikash recently provided him services of two women at a sum of Rs 17,500 and Rs 15000 respectively.
So far, two women victims who were lured into flesh trade have been rescued and handed over to One Stop Centre, Ha orang Sabal, Lamsang after observing formalities for reformation and rehabilitation.
The police further informed that the case is in its crucial stage and more witnesses are yet to be examined for establishing the chain of evidences., to determine if any other per son(s) is/are involved in sexual exploitation and if there are any more dimensions in the commission of the crime.
