International Nurses Day : Hats doffed to ladies in white

The State joined the world in observing the International Nurses Day at College of Nursing, Medical Directorate, Lamphel here today.
This year's theme for International Nurses Day is 'Nurses: A voice to lead- Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to Secure Global Health' and the observation was organised by the Manipur Nursing Council.
Speaking at the function as chief guest, Health Services Director Dr K Rajo said that the International Nurses Day is being observed every year on May 12 since 1975 under the auspices of the International Nursing Council.
The International Nursing Day is observed every year in commemoration of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and also in recognition of the services rendered by nurses across the world.

Dr Rajo said that everybody ought to acknowledge and appreciate the services given by nurses to the society and the care they give to patients.
"We are grateful to all the nurses who worked tirelessly at different Covid care centres and health institutions during the heights of the first, second and third waves of Covid pandemic", the Health Director said.
He also appealed to all the nurses to gather greater knowledge about their profession and work more sincerely.
He advised nurses to join training courses from time to time so that they can improve the quality of their services.
In her presidential speech, Medical Directorate Joint Director (Nursing) Lalbiakmawia stressed on the importance of improving the quality of nursing services and protection of the rights of nurses.
She said that all the nurses must unite together in order to protect their rights.
"An individual who saves a human life is hailed as a hero while those individuals who save hundreds of lives are called nurses", Lalbiakmawia said.
She said that nurses are magic angels sent by god to the world.
Later prizes were distributed to outstanding students who secured top ten positions of GNM and ANM final year examinations.
The Bodhi Nursing Excellence Award 2022 was also distributed at the function.
Manipur Nursing Council Registrar Th Nandarani, College of Nursing Principal Dr N Surbala and Bodhi Nursing Excellence Award 2022 Chief Coordinator Abhinav Girdhar too attended the function as guests of honour.
