District level ASHA convention held in Kakching

Kakching, March 30 2023:
A district level convention for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) was organised by District Health Society, Kakching at Kakching Phoushupat Leikai Library and Information Centre auditorium on Thursday.
The convention was attended by Kakching DC Somorjit Salam, who is also the District Health Society chairman; CMO Dr Thaodem Rajen, who is also the District Health Society mission director; and former CMO Dr Nongmaithem Nabakishwor as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Somorjit commended the contribution of ASHA workers in providing health care services to the needy people.
In a place like India where the number of poor people exceeds the rich, the ASHA workers are the only hope.
Without them, the national health mission would also have faced many gaps and challenges, he said.
Eight ASHA workers namely Angom Ibemcha of Sugnu Wapokpi, Naorem Omina Leima of Keirak Keisham Leikai, Amom Ibemcha Leima of Wangoo Sandangkhong, Shamjetshabam Anita Devi of Thongjao Makha Leikai, Sarangthem Taruni Devi" of Pallel Bazar, Thokchom Asha Devi of Serou Bazar and Naorem Memcha Devi of Kakching Wairi Leishangthem Pareng were presented with Best ASHA awards on the occasion.
ASHA workers of the district were also presented with gifts.
A short play by Nokphade group based on the role of ASHA workers was also showcased on the occasion.
