IJU, Nepal Press Union sign 7-point pact

Indian Journalists' Union (IJU) and Nepal Press Union signed a 7-point agreement including joint effort to ease inconveniences faced by Indian and Nepalese journalists and uphold freedom of press.
The agreement was signed during 'Indian Journalists' Meet Nepalese Journalists' programme held at Carnival Restro, Kathmandu in Nepal on Thursday.
Nepal Press Union also felicitated delegates of Manipur journalists who are in Nepal on a seven-day tour organised jointly by AMWJU, DIPR and EGM.
Speaking at the programme, IJU president Geetartha Pathak conceded that journalists of both India and Nepal are facing inconveniences and threats continuously.
As such, he urged journalists of both the countries to work together to ensure freedom of press is upheld.
Meanwhile, Nepal Press Union president Shiva Lamsal appealed to the journalists of both the nations to strive for promoting healthy relationship and move forward towards progress in news reporting.
The 7-point pact included maintaining healthy relationship and working together to resolve issues between the two nations and promotion and protection of culture, history and heritage of the two nations among others.
The programme was attended by AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai, Nepal senior journalist Damudar Prasad Dawadi, DIPR deputy director T Ramesh and Impact TV editor Raj Nongthombam, among others.
