All-round Manipur thump Arunachal by 133 runs in NECDC Interstate tournament

Manipur produced an all-round performance to clinch a comprehensive 133-run win over Arunachal Pradesh in the first edition of North East Cricket Development Committee (NEC-DC) Senior Men's Interstate Friendship Tournament at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Dimapur on Thursday.
Fine efforts by Bikash Singh (74) and Md Sultan Karim (53 not out) with contributions from Md Basu-Rahman (33), Jotin Pheiroijam (28), Kishan Laishram (19) and Rajkumar Rex Singh (10) helped Manipur pile up a competitive total of 253 before being dismissed in 49.3 overs.
Chasing a challenging target, Arunachal Pradesh succumbed to the pressure applied by the state bowlers, who bundled out the opposition for 120 in 44.5 overs.
Kishan Laishram led the Manipur bowling attack finishing with three scalps as Rajkumar Rex, Bishworjit Konthoujam and Md Sultan Khan took two wickets apiece, and Ngariyanbam Johnson chipped in with one.
In their run chase, Techi Doria (31), Neelam Obi (26), Myengdung Singpho (18) and Abo Nabam(ll) were the only batters who came up with double digits for Arunachal.
Earlier, Abo Nabam, Yab Niya, Darge Bagra and Techi Doria bagged two wickets each for Arunachal.
Kishan Laishram, who took three wickets and scored 10 runs, earned the man of the match accolade.
Manipur are placed in Group A along with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh while Group B has Nagaland, Sikkim and Mizoram.
