The protestors attempted to hold a candle light vigil in front of the western gate of Kangla to show solidarity to Rahul Gandhi but were immediately intercepted by a police team led by Imphal West SP Sarangthem Ibomcha.
As the police started herding the protestors back towards Congress Bhawan, a scuffle broke out between the two at the gate of the Bhawan.

However, five Seva Dal women lost consciousness in the ensuing melee and they had to be hospitalised.
In this regard, MPCC vice president L Tilotama said that BJP made many false accusations against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi just because he questioned why the BJP government was in support of frauds like Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi and Gautam Adani, and also on the relationship between PM Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani.
They further conspired to have Rahul Gandhi removed from the membership of Lok Sabha.
Thus, the Seva Dal members staged the protest to express condemnation of the dictatorship of BJP government and to save the spirit of democracy.
Tilotama then condemned the state police, who clearly show Support for the wrong doers and are on anti-democracy side, through its excessive force used against the protestors.

However, BJP can never fully silence the voice of Congress party, which is on the side of the truth.
Congress will continue to raise its voice for the truth and fight to protect democracy and secularism in the country, the MPCC vice president made it clear.
