Election petitions filed against Chandel, Bpr MLAs

NPF candidate Langhu Paulhring Anal has filed an election petition against Chandel AC MLA SS Olish, who won the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on BJP ticket.
According to the petition, respondent SS Olish declared that she was 34 years old in the affidavit submitted during the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, but the electoral rolls published in 2012 stated that she was 35 years old.
The electoral roll of 41-Chandel (ST) published in 2014 specified that she was 36 years old.
Meanwhile, in the affidavit submitted by the respondent for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, she mentioned that she was 40 years old; whereas in the affidavit for thel2th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, she declared that she was 44 years old.
The petition further mentioned that the respondent did not provide any details about her daughter, vehicles and all immovable/movable properties in her name, in the affidavit.
As such, the petitioner appealed to the High Court of Manipur to hear the petition on daily basis and dispose the same at the earliest, while further declaring the election win of SS Olish as null and void.
The petitioner further prayed to declare him as the winner of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from 41-Chandel AC.
An election petition has also been filed at Manipur High Court against sitting 26-Bishnupur AC MLA Konthoujam Govindas, who contested the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on BJP ticket, and currently holds the portfolios of Works and YAS Minister.
The petition has been filed by JD(U) candidate O Nabakishore and mentioned Govindas and Ningthoujam Joykumar as respondents.
According to the petition, (respondent no.l) Konthoujam Govindas failed to provide exact details regarding his age, educational qualification, year of passing the highest educational qualification, his and his wife's wealth including joint assets purchased in their names, in the affidavit submitted during filing of nomination papers.
The affidavit, which was full of errors, was approved during scrutiny, which adversely affected the polls, the petitioner claimed.
As such, the petitioner appealed to the Court to dismiss the result of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, while declaring the election win of respondent no 1 as null and void.
He further made a prayer to the Court for declaring him (petitioner) as the winner of the election from 26-Bishnupur AC .
