Ginsuanhau challenges poll win of Chinlunthang

BJP candidate Ginsuanhau Zou has filed an election petition against sitting 60-Singhat (ST) MLA Chinlunthang, who won the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) ticket.
According to the petition filed by Ginsuanhau Zou mentioning Chinlunthang, Tualkhan Kiamlo Hangzo and T Hangkhanpao as respondents; the petitioner was a candidate sponsored by BJP, while (respondent no 1) Chinlunthang was sponsored by KPA.
During filing of nomination papers on February 7, respondent no.l did not provide his bank account details and also failed to mention the Bolero SLX (MN OS A-5255) purchased in his name, in the affidavit.
He also did not fill the columns regarding the particulars of his wife and other dependents.
In addition, Chinlunthang withheld information about his social media accounts and details of the joint account opened with another individual at UCO Bank, Churachandpur Branch.
He also withheld various other information required to be provided to Election Commission for contesting the election.
The petition then appealed to the Court to declare the electoral victory of respondent no 1 in the Assembly election as null and void, and declare him the rightful winner of the election.
