Boycott suspended

The media fraternity in Manipur has resolved to suspend the ongoing boycott of State Government related news over non-payment of advertisement bills by the State Government.
Representatives of publishers, media organisations, All Manipur Working Journalists Union, Editors Guild Manipur and the Manipur Hill Journalists Union held a meeting with IPR Minister Sapam Ranjan on May 3 .
The meeting initiated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, discussed the issue of bills amounting to crores of rupees pending with various Government Departments.
The new IPR Minister on his part informed the media delegates that departments under him, particularly NRHM, under Health Department were already processing bills to be released in a very short time.
He also said that he was new to the department and assured the delegates that he would hold a meeting with his officers and take up every possible measure and appealed to the delegates to give him some time.
Later a joint meeting of the media bodies chaired by the AMWJU president W Shyamjai, EGM president Kh Khogen and MHJU president Peter Adani was held.
The meeting decided to suspend the boycott of State Government news and advertisements with effect from May 4 .
