Imphal, February 02 2023:
Refuting media reports about the arrest of one recruiter and one member of the organisation by police from two different places in the past few days, the armed Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Kangleipak has clarified that the two arrested people are not related with the outfit at all.
According to a SOREPA statement, reports carried by local media regarding the arrests of Moirangthem Nao-ba Meitei alias Manaoton (27) of Jiribam Leingangpokpi but presently residing at Top Moirangkampu Forest Gate on January 31 and Ningombam Rabichandra (23) son of Pakpi of Moidangpok Khunou Mayai Leikai from Nambol Khoriphaba on February 1 and branding them as recruiter and active member of the organisation respectively are concocted and have no basis.
The SOREPA statement issued by its publicity secretary MC Yaiphabi further said that the outfit has no policy of forcible recruitment and will not have any such policy in future too but many people approached the outfit for joining revolutionary movement voluntarily.
It also clarified that the outfit has no member named major Laingou nor have any relation with a person named Sanatomba from Langathel.
The SOREPA statement further said that attempts being made by government forces to provide wrong information to the people by linking the outfit with a prominent revolutionary group would not be successful and such acts could not suppress revolutionary movement being initiated by the outfit.
Arrest of innocent civilians and branding them as SOREPA members indicates government's inability to tackle revolutionary movement launched by the outfit, the statement said.
