IPS to honour ex-CAU dean Dr Iboton

In recognition of his research work on plant diseases for the benefits of farmers, Indian Phytopathological Sociaty (IPS) will honour former dean of Central Agricultural University, Imphal Dr Naorem Iboton with 'Recognition Award-2023', the highest award in this category in the country.
The award will be presented to Dr Iboton during the IPS Platinum Jubilee Conference being held at Mysore University from February 2 to 4 .
Apart from recording new diseases in plants, specially three new diseases in paddy plants, Dr Iboton also brought out precautionary measures to prevent from the new diseases.
The award is to be conferred to him in recognition of the precautionary measures he brought out to prevent new diseases.
Dr Iboton first produced Hingkap and Penicilium Citrinum which are helpful in organic farming and farmers are widely using the two products.
Plant pathologists of India selected Dr Iboton for the award in acknowledgement of his contribution.
Dr Iboton had earlier received fellow award of IPS in 1988 and 'Award of Honour' given by Indian Society of Plant Pathologists in October, 2018.He was also conferred 'Recognition Award' by the Association of Plant Pathologists in November, 2019 .
