24 teams to slug out for Shaheed Manoranjan trophy

Under the aegis of IGP, Manipur & Nagaland Sector CRPF, 143 Bn CRPF, Lamphelpat will host the 13th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial State Level Open Football Tournament at SAI Sports Complex, Imphal in collaboration with IWDFA & AMFA from February 4 to March 4.In a release, 143 Bn com mandant informed that the tournament is being organised in the memory of Shaheed assistant commandant Ng Manornajan Singh, son of late Ng Budhachandra and Ng Memcha of Yurembam Makha Leikai, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting Naxalites in Chhattisgarh in 2009 .
Informing that the CRPF has been organising the state level tournament since 2010 to promote football in Manipur, the release said that a total of 24 top teams of Manipur drawn from State League, Super League, winners of District Leagues, etc., will compete for the title.
Water Resource Relief & Disaster Management minister Awangbow Newmai will attend the opening ceremony on February 4 at 11 am at SAI Sports Complex, Takyel, the release informed.
A cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh along with trophy will be awarded to the winners and the runners-up respectively.
The highest goal scorer, best goal keeper best player of the tournament and man of the final match shall be awarded cash prize of Rs 10,000 each along with trophies.
It also informed that a sum of Rs 3000 and Rs 5000 per match shall be given to Imphal-based and outside Imphal clubs respectively as bus fare/TA/match money.
