Imphal, January 08 2022:
In view of the government's inability to take action against Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Manipur president Barish Sharma who triggered unwanted incidents at different parts of the state, former deputy speaker and Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeswar has questioned whether the BJYM state president is above the chief minister or is he the most powerful person in the state.
MLA Lokeswar raised this question to the government while speaking on the sidelines of handing over a newly developed playground of Prince Club, Waiton to the people on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Lokeswar noted that anti-social (goondaism) activities are being carried out repeatedly in many states of the country ruled by BJP and the same has been spread to Manipur.
He said that self-styled activities of BJP's youth leader Barish who even kicked at the gate of Congress Bhawan few days back and opened fire in a crowded place on Friday in Bishhupur district indeed were very unfortunate and giving free hand to the youth leader and inability to arrest him compelled him to question the government if Barish is above the chief minister or is he the most powerful person in the state.
The same question is alsobeing asked by people of the state, he said, adding that in such a scenario voting in favour of BJP would be akin to giving power to ruin and bring chao in the state.
Violence being perpetrated in different parts of the state during the tenure of the present government never happened in the past, Lokeswar said and appealed to people of the state to teach BJP a fitting lesson in the upcoming assembly election.
