Imphal, June 22 2026: A number of weapons including AK rifles and SLRs have been seized from Leilon Vaiphei and neighbouring villages, Kangpokpi district by a combined team of security forces.

A combined team of Manipur Police, CRPF, RAF .

CoBRA and the army carried out an intensive search operation together at Leilon Vaiphei, Leilon Munlui, Molhoi, P Moulding, Leilon Khunou and surrounding areas of Kangpokpi district, sources said.

The operation started on June 20 and it went throughout June 21 and 22 leading to the recovery of 17 single/double barrel guns, two AK-47 rifles, one M4 carbine, two SLRs, one SKS rifle and one improvised sniper .303 rifle, 11 SBL rifles and assorted ammunition, communication equipment and other war-like stores.

The combined security team came under fire from suspected Kuki militants yesterday, resulting in an exchange of firing.

However, there was no report of any casualty or arrest, said the sources.
