Moirang, June 23 2026:
Womenfolk and Meira Paibis of Phubala staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday evening, demanding the unconditional release of arrested Arambai Tenggol (AT) volunteers and urging the government not to make further arrests or detentions of former AT volunteers.
During the protest, the demonstrators raised slogans including "We condemn the action of the State and Central Government", "Release the arrested Arambai Tenggol volunteers immediately" and "Arrest us too" .
Speaking during the protest, a woman participant said that the arrest of AT volunteers, who had come forward during the conflict to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur and protect the lives of people, is strongly condemned by the mothers of Phubala.
She demanded the immediate release of the arrested volunteers without any condition.
She stated that following the assurance given by the Governor of Manipur, the weapons used by the volunteers for self-defence during the conflict had been submitted to the authorities.
Condemning the subsequent arrests, she appealed to the government to release the volunteers within the deadline set by the people.
She added that if their demands are not met, the womenfolk of Phubala would support and participate in any movement launched by the people of Manipur.
