Imphal, November 09 2015:
The Centre will be sending a national quality monitoring team to inspect the quality of all works undertaken in the State under Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
The team is expected to reach Imphal on November 18 .
It may be mentioned that PMGSY was launched in December 2000, with the objective of providing connectivity, through all-weather roads, to all unconnected habitations, with a population of more than 500 persons.
The programme is entirely funded by the Government of India.
The Central Government formulates the Policy Guidelines and facilitates the making of good quality roads through insistence on planning, clearance of road works, better methods of execution, time bound implementation and quality control.
The planning and execution of road works are being carried out by the States.
