Imphal, November 09 2015:
Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM) has urged the Chief Minister of Manipur to reinstate Alternative English as an optional subject for class IX and X under BOSEM.
In a memorandum, FATCYM said, "It is really unfortunate that widespread unrest and apprehension is prevailing in the hill districts of Manipur in the aftermath of the omission of Alternative English as an optional subject in the BOSEM Classes IX and X vide government order No.A/SC/6/VI76/Pt-11 dated 23rd March 2013" .
FATCYM claimed that the hill student community is deeply hurt with the omission of the subject based on credible factors that Alternative English serves as one of the most
acquainted subjects for the hill students since the beginning of educational career of a tribal student.
The federation stated that respective tribal "vernacular subjects" are still found short of professional expertise in most of the tribes of Manipur and they also fail to offer the hope of job opportunities.
FATYCM argued that respective tribal language fail to provide justified mark allotment system due to lack of professional and competent teachers.
"Tribal vernacular subjects are lately introduced only in the high school and as such the students lack acquaintance with the same of adept professional pursuit," mentioned the memorandum.
According to the FATYCM, under such circumstances, the act of omitting Alternative subject vide No.A/SC/6/V/76/Pt-11 dated 23rd March 2013 is unjustified and fall short of sane reasons.
"This also subsequently amounts to serving the rights and interest of the hill students community and hence we demand immediate reinstatement of Alternative English as an optional subject in Classes IX and X under BOSEM failing which the entire responsibility shall be fixed on the concerned authority," added the federation.
