JNMS Director/docs to bear expenses for treatment of Covid positive woman

JNIMS doctors have contributed for the treatment of a COVID-19 positive woman who had lost her husband and son to Covid in July, 2021 .
Dr Thoubahenba, HOD Anaesthesia, told the media that Potsangbam Medhabati (60) of Keishamthong Moirangningthou Leikai was admitted to JNIMS on July 16 in the Covid ward and was accompanied by her daughter to take care of her.
The doctors found the daughter of Potsangbam Medhabati crying in the corridor of the hospital and on enquiry, she told the doctors that she had lost her brother and father to Covid recently and had no money for the treatment of her mother.
The information was immediately passed on to Director of JNIMS Prof L Deben and he had directed the doctors and medical staff to do the needful to save the woman and that all the expenses of the treatment will be borne by him.
As her condition was deteriorating, she was moved to Covid ICU and is being monitored round the clock by the doctors and nurses, he told the media.
The expenses of her medicine including Rs 8000/dose Tocilizumab, which is not available at JNIMS, is currently borne by the contributions from doctors.
Prof L Deben further assured that all the expenses of her treatment will be borne by him and the doctors
of the hospital.
