Imphal, July 30 2021:
Pointing out that protest launched by teachers of Government Polytechnic demanding implementation of 7th pay is creating serious issues to the students, six students' organisations namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS have appealed to the government to resolve the issue without any further delay.
In a joint release, presidents of the six organisations said that the failure to conduct physical classes due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation is a huge setback for the students.
In view of the prevailing pandemic situation, online classes were arranged to mitigate of some the losses.
Unfortunately, teachers of Government Polytechnic launched protest since July 21 over the failure of the government to fulfil their demand for implementing the 7th pay scale recommendation.
All the classes and exam related activities have been on halt due to the protest, thus creating a lot of inconveniences to the students, the joint release said.
Urging the government to talk with Government Polytechnic Teachers' Association (GOPOTA) and resolve the issue at the earliest, the organisations also called for continuing the online classes and saving the career of the students.
