Imphal, July 30 2021:
While alleging that the recently conducted interview for appointment of five ECG technicians in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was marked by favouritism and nepotism, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has demanded immediate quashing of the recruitment result notification and conduct of a fresh interview.
AMSU filed a written complaint in this regard to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and urged the latter to stop the misconduct in recruitment process of five ECG technicians in the premier medical institution.
In the written complaint addressed to additional secretary Alok Saxena of the ministry, AMSU pointed out that RIMS authority issued a notification (No B/3511/2021) on June 30 for recruitment of five ECG technicians through walk-in-interview and the same was conducted on July 6 .
Advertisement for the recruitment mentioned Diploma in ECG/X-Ray & ECG as essential qualification for the posts and preference to women.
Result of the interview was declared on July 7 and five candidates were selected.
However, RIMS selection committee tweaked the essential qualification and most unsuitable candidates were selected.
AMSU had in the past urged the ministry to upgrade RIMS to the level of AIIMS but it was very unfortunate that a high-level gang manipulated the essential qualification for the posts, AMSU said in the complaint and demanded immediate quashing of the RIMS notification of July 7 declaring result of the walk-in-interview and conduct of a fresh interview.
AMSU also demanded befitting action against erring members of the selection board, staff and all those involved.
