Interaction programme on COVID-19 held

Senapati, July 30 2021:
An interaction programme to spread awareness on COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviours and importance of Covid vaccination for 18 years and above was held at DC Conference Hall, DC Office, Senapati.
The programme was organised by 47-Karong AC Covid Management and Enforcement Committee in collaboration with the Poumai Naga Union (PNU) and other apex bodies of the Poumai Naga Tribe.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, DC, Senapati stressed on the importance of Covid vaccination and the need to organise interaction programmes with all the apex civil bodies.
Dr Peter Ngouniba, District Immunization Officer stated that although the current vaccination rate in the district stands at just 15.50%, the department aims to vaccinate a total of 1,54,769 adults above the age of 18 years before September 30, 2021.Dr Shyamjai, State Mission Director, NHM stated that vaccination is the only way to successfully tackle the pandemic and urged the people to follow the SOPs.
D Dailord Pao, President, Poumai Naga Union said that many people have denied vaccination due to the misleading claims shared about Covid vaccine on social media while adding that the CSOs are ready to extend all possible help to the District Administration and Medical department in the fight against COVID-19 .
Asahrii Clement, President, Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM) appreciated the initiatives taken by the District Administration and urged to carry out more awareness programmes in remote villages of the district.
M Pradip Singh, IPS, SP, Senapati also appealed to the people not to circulate unfounded news on social media to avoid any unwanted incidents and to cooperate with the district police in maintaining law and order.
PP Ronald, SDO, Purul and Convenor, 47-Karong AC Covid Management & Enforcement Committee urged the people to provide their assistance to the Health Department.
The programme was attended by ADC, Senapati, SDOs of Song Song, Phaibung, other federating units of the PNU, PNBA, MOs in charge of Oinam Hill PHC and Paomata.
