KUM fetes S Mirabai Chanu

Imphal, July 30 2021:
Office bearers of Kabui Union Manipur (KUM) on Friday paid a visit to Saikhom Mirabai Chanu's residence at Nongpok Kakching and presented Kabui traditional stole to her as token of appreciation for her achievement in the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games.
In a release, KUM Dr K Heera Kabui stated that they will pray to the Almighty God to bestow blessings on her and wished that her zeal in weightlifting brings more international medals for the country and produces more international sportspersons in the state.
Further, they appealed to the mainland Indian people to stop racism towards North East people of India.
Racism is neither humanism nor patriotism, it added.
KUM also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister N Biren Singh for giving more importance to sports and laying the foundation stone for National Sports University in Koutruk, Manipur.
