Chandel reiterates stand against land acquisition

A public meeting held at Khukarthil in Chandel district yesterday reiterated stand to oppose the Government's move for acquiring 600 acres of land at Pallel in the name of setting up an Integrated cum Multi Facilities Logistic Hub under State Department of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting attended by Chiefs, Tribe Presidents, members of CNPO, KPF, NWUC, KWHR, NSUC and intellectuals, also reiterated the demands for immediate transfer of Revenue Land Records from Thoubal to Chandel and shifting out of the surrendered KYKL (MDF) cadres from Chandel district.
The meeting which was convened and presided over by Convener of Chandel Naga Kuki Joint Committee (CDNKJC) Ws Kanral Anal took serious note of the Government's silence on the public outcry over the issue and reaffirmed the previous meeting decision to impose a 48-hour total bandh in Chandel district from midnight of February 27 if the Government failed to response to the demands of the people.
Briefing media after the meeting, Kanral said that CDNKJC is left with no option but will go ahead with the decision of intensifying the stir as the government has failed to give any response.
With exception to examination and related matter, nothing will be exempted from the purview of the proposed bandh, Kanral made it clear.
He further informed that a sub-committee for finance and steering the course of the agitation led by himself and Kuki People's Forum (KPF) President, Jammang Baite as Co-conveners has also been formed while another sub- committee to ensure the success of the 48-hour total Chandel Bandh too has also been constituted with Chairman of All Tribal Chiefs' & People's Grievances Forum Chandel district, Sng Lumdil as convener.
