One nurse for every 650 persons in State: Dr Ibomcha

Director of Health & Family Welfare Dr O Ibomcha has claimed that the State has one nurse for every 650 persons as compared to the overall national figure of one nurse for every 3400 persons.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the Capping and Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the State Government School of Nursing held at the school's auditorium located at Lamphelpat here today.
Dr Ibomcha further said that the State has developed tremendously in the healthcare sector.
Goa and Manipur are now on top of the list of states with low infant mortality rate.
The nurses of the State have contributed so much to achieve this remarkable recognition, he noted.
The State is investing 4.5 percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in healthcare sector while India (as a whole) is making an investment of only 1.2 percent of its GDP in the health sector, the Director stated.
Dr Ibomcha also lauded the nursing institutes of the State for producing good number of trained nurses to enhance the healthcare sector of the State.
The ceremony was also attended by Director of Health Services Dr A Bijoy, Joint Director of Nursing Vungzanem Valte and Nursing Superintendent of JNIMS P Landhoni.
