Tamenglong, February 22 2014 :
Normal life remained paralysed in Tamenglong district due to the 72-hour total bandh called by Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) Tamenglong district and Kuki Women Union (KWU) Tamenglong district.
Apart from closure of market places, no passenger services were plied on the roads.
However, there is report of any untoward incident during the bandh till the time of filling this report.
NNN adds: No transporters operated along Imphal-Silchar road or National Highway 37 since this morning as the tribal organisations began their 72 hours bandh along the highway.
The Kuki Students Organisation (Tamenglong district) and Kuki Women Union (Tamenglong district) supported by KSO-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) and Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur (ZSUM) have begun their bandh in protest against the alleged perpetual encroachment of the 'tribal lands' in Tamenglong district.
The tribal bodies then warned of intensifying the bandh if the state government of Manipur continues to remain callous over the matter.
