Women vendors' seminar turns violent

In a bizarre incident, a commotion followed by throwing of plastic bottles and tearing down of backdrop on the stage broke out among women vendors during a seminar on protecting the image and sanctity of Khwairamband Nupi Keithel which was organized jointly by United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organization and Leima Sintha Self Help Group at Manipur Press Club here today.
The scuffle erupted while preparations were being made to announce the resolutions adopted during the seminar.
Some of the women vendors were against the resolutions.
Some of the women vendors turned so violent with tearing down the backdrop on the stage and throwing plastic bottles, etc, the police had to be called in to control the situation.
Meanwhile, the two organizations have filed a complaint to the City Police Station pleading for taking up legal actions against the women vendors involved in the incident.
Earlier, the seminar was inaugurated Dr K Sobita, Director of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur as Chief Guest; Wangkheimayum Rajen, Executive Officer of IMC as Functional President while N Tomba, executive editor of Pandam and writer Ranjit Ningthouja as Guests of Honour.
,Director of Mutua Museum Mutua Bahadur, Chief Editor of Kangla Pao daily P Achouba, Assistant Professor Dr Waikhom Romesh of GP Women's College, Imphal and Assistant Professor Dr TB of Oriental College, Imphal were among those who spoke as resource persons during the seminar.
