MSME expo cum food fair, 2013 concludes

Speaking of the government's genuine intervention to improve the small and medium scale industries of the state, O Nabakishore, principal secretary, commerce and industries, government of Manipur said that already 14 crore rupees have been invested during the 12 year plan for the promotion of textile industries like handloom and handicraft products and for purposes of fashion shows and advertising.
Speaking as chief guest of the closing function of the weeklong MSME Expo cum Food Fair, 2013 at Palace Compound, here yesterday, Nabakishore maintained that many welfare schemes and projects like North East textile promotion scheme and many other important projects curtailing to development of small and medium scale industries are underway at places like Takyel and Moirang of the Manipur state.
To cope with the problem of interrupted power supply which can hamper the functioning of textile industries in the state, a North East power loom will be set up soon, which will supply 74% of power supply to the entrepreneurs.
The Manipuri textiles which are highly demanded in the entire world needs to be promoted frequently so that the production increases with time, he suggested.
He also declared that the state's textile products will be showcased in the upcoming South East Asian Handloom Exhibition which is set to be organized at Mandalay (Myanmar) and Khunming (China) on January 17-19 and June month of the coming year.
The weeklong program was jointly organized by National Small Industries Corporation, Department of Commerce and Industries, government of Manipur and the All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association (AMEA).
The closing programme was also attended by V.Tualthang, additional director of commerce and industries, Manipur, L.Ibetombi Devi, deputy manager, NSIC and L.Rishikumar Singh, president AMEA as functional guests of honour and president respectively.
