NSUC calls for ensuring basic infrastructures

The Naga Students' Union Chamdil (NSUC) on December 19 said that the time has come for the State Govt.of Manipur to wake up from its slumber and work for development of basic infrastructure for the people of Chakpikarong sub-division of Chandel district, have been denied of developmental facilities for the last many years so as to make them feel they are a part of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons during a stop-over of its developmental inspection tour in the sub-division at Sugnu- Sajik Tampak road via Chakpikarong Bazar yesterday, where the MG-NREGS job card holders voluntarily took up the initiative of repairing the road in association with local MLA, SDO/BDO Chakpikarong and Chiefs' Association of Kukis and Nagas yesterday, President of the student body SR Joningam pointed out that the SDO/BDO's office at Chakpikarong lacks basic infrastructures, and drew the attention of the State government for ensuring full functioning of all the departmental offices and staffs quarters in the sub-division and for strengthening administration by regularizing the staffs.
He also pointed out lack of basic health care facility in CHC Chakpikarong and lack of necessary infrastructures at Chakpikarong Govt high School and called upon on the state Government to provide proper fencing, adequate teaching staffs and furniture to the the school and adequate doctors and nurses be posted at the newly converted Community Health Centre.
Sr Joningam further stated that the construction work on the guest house at Chakpikarong has been abandoned incomplete due to alleged non release of fund by the state planning department.
Similarly, 33KV power sub-station at Salluk is far behind completion with no physical buildings or equipment installed.
In this regard, the student leader appealed to the government and concerned minister for speeding up the works.
