Blast, murder suspects in police custody

Some cadres of a UG group suspected to be responsible for the Nagamapal bomb blast which killed nine non-local labourers and the murder of van driver Gyanendro at Naran Konjil have been taken into the custody of Imphal West police and they are being subjected to interrogation.
According to a high ranking police official, two cadres of a particular UG group were arrested by Patna police on December 21. They were brought to Imphal and on interrogating them, it has been learnt that they were involved in the bomb blast and the murder case.
Saying that the interrogation process is still on, the police officer claimed that clear picture can be obtained in the next couple of days.
Notably, nine persons were killed while 11 sustained injuries in the Nagamapal bomb blast of September 13 this year.
Earlier on August 18, van driver Okram Gyanendro of Singjamei Okram Leikai was found shot dead at Naran Konjil.
