Manipur win National Thang-Ta title

Imphal, December 20, 2013:
With a competition tally of 430 points from 99 medal haul, including 76 gold, host Manipur wrested the title of four-day the 20th National Thang-Ta Champion-ship, which concluded today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
Manipur also won 14 silver and nine bronze medals to emerge champions as Jammu & Kashmir secured the runners-up title on 215 points, comprising of 13 gold, 40 silver and 15 bronze medals.
In all 445 thang-ta players, including 201 girls, from 17 States took part in the championship organised by Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association under the aegis of Thang-Ta Federation of India.
Among boys, State's M Bidyasagar Singh has been adjudged the best fighter with the girls honour going to Nondita Devi of Assam.
The closing ceremony was held with SAI NERC, Imphal Director Dr Subhash Basumatary and organising Committee chairman H Premkumar Singh as chief guest and president respectively with Asst Director of sports (MU) Dr Ch Pradip Singh and SAI NERC Coordinator A Jadumani Singh gracing the function as the guests of honour.
international thang-ta referee seminar and coaches' course were also organised in which officials from Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh took part.
