Imphal, June 27 2015 :
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has warned all doctors who have been serving under Medical Directorate, Manipur Govt including doctors of RIMS and JNIMS for practising in private hospitals and clinics.
Secretary Publicity and Propaganda, DESAM has urged the state govt to take action against such doctors who practise against the norms of MCI and Manipur Medical Council.
Many doctors leaving behind their professional ethics, continually practice in private hospitals and clinics.
It only worsens the situation of poor peoples, it added.
In govt.hospitals doctors are hardly present in their duty timings leaving their responsibility to the medical students of PG/MBBS.
Doctors under Medical Directorate are refusing posting to far away district hospitals, health sub-centres, and primary health sub-centres.
The Secretary also mentioned that doctors pocket non-practicing allowance from their own govt.hospitals while most of them practise in many private health sectors.
Patients are regularly referred to such private hospitals/clinics earning a huge illegal fee.
DESAM has closely examined all such acts of doctors and has decided to investigate for further action.
It lastly appealed to all to support the upcoming campaign of the students' organization and seeks further co-operation from health departments and authorities.
