Villagers protest murder of woman

Imphal, June 27 2015 :
Surrounding villagers of Ramrei staged a sit in protest at Ramrei village on Saturday against the brutal killing of a 40 years old woman from Ramrei whose dead body was found on June 24 near her house.
She had been missing since June 22 .
They urged the government to fulfill their demands before June 28 failing which the JAC will be compelled to launch strong forms of agitations with the support of other Tangkhul organisations.
Speaking to the media persons at the site of the protest JAC Secretary Themson Jajo said that the representatives of JAC has met the deputy chief Gaikhangam who also holds home portfolio at his office chamber in the presence of local MLA Victor Keishing on June 26 night.

The JAC urged the government to arrest all the culprits involved in the heinous crime and demanded to book and punish them under the law.
They also demanded ex-gratia and monthly fellowship should arrange for the bereaved three minor children on the humanitarian ground.
A post mortem was done on June 25 but the JAC still refused to claim the dead body until their demands are conceded.
Unless their demands are granted the JAC will not accept the dead body.
They also shouted slogans like "Meehatpa-dandi pigadbani" during the protest.
Various Tangkhul civil organisation leaders including Tangkhul Naga Foothill organisation President Turner Raishing, Naga Shanaolong Yaingangpokpi area president Y Hesai, and its vice president Philangam attended in the protest and they were made as JAC members.
