Crafts awards presented

Directorate of Commerce and Industries today presented different awards to outstanding craftsmen at Lamyanba Shanglen today.
Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Tribal Affairs, Hills Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing and Commerce and Industries Director B John Tlangtinkhuma were the chief guest, president and guest of honour of the function respectively.
Ten craftsmen were conferred with the State awards while merit awards presented to 16 and inspiration awards to 20 craftsmen.
The cash prize for State award has been hiked from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000, Rs 8000 to Rs 15,000 for merit award and Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 for inspiration award this year.
Govindas Konthoujam said that the State Government would award monthly pension of Rs 2000 to all the State and National awardee artisans whose age is above 60 years from the next year.
He said that development of a country or State comes from commerce, industry and trade while urging the people to adopt work culture.
