Farmers' training

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Imphal conducted a one day district level farmers' training programme on 'Use of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides in rice' at Panchayat Bhawan training hall, Porompat, Imphal.
Chief guest of the event Imphal West Deputy Commissioner M Joy Singh during his speech said there are little to no possibility that more arable lands would be introduced in the coming years.
With the ever growing industrialisation and land development, the area of agricultural land has decreased drastically.
As such, Departments concerned ought to come up with policies to protect agricultural land, the DC asserted.
He further elaborated on the need to increase awareness on the use of pesticides and the benefit of multiple cropping among farmers.
Speaking at the occasion ATMA Project Director Y Shyam Singh while emphasising on the need to increase production, urged farmers to introduce lesser chemicals in their food products.
The training programme was participated be farmers under Imphal East district.
