Imphal, June 27 2015 :
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) strongly condemned the objectionable acts of Southern Angami People's Organization (SAPO) and Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) harassing Mao people.
A press statement by Secretary General, AMUCO has stated that SAPO and SAYO ransacked many shops belonging to Mao community.
They were also targeted in National Highway and hectored to leave the area of Southern Angami immediately.
Even the Mao Union Kohima unit President was physically assaulted at crowded place in Kohima.
The statement added that it is a shameful act of targeting especially Mao people after civil society organizations like SAPO's plan failed to forcefully merge Kozri and Dzkou of Manipur into Nagaland.
Manipur govt.should declare its stand on the issue publicly, it added.
Otherwise the issue would become murkier and more repulsive communal incidents between Manipuris and Nagaland may take place, it warned.
It is very much clear that Nagaland govt.fully backed the plan of SAPO to merge Kozri and Dzkou by hook or crook since the govt.failed to intervene when their people attacked Mao community in Nagaland.
Manipur govt.made the biggest mistake by not taking any initial steps when reports of road construction at Kozri and Dzkou by SAPO were flashed out.
State govt.has no intention nor gives any priority for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Sending a report on the issue to Central govt.will not bring any concrete solution on the issue.
Targeting of Mao people for resisting SAPO's act to loot Kozri and Dzkou openly is against the norms of International laws and act of unfamiliar on constitutional rights.
Extending full support to Mao community the statement further added that AMUCO's stand on territorial integrity of Manipur will continue and would not tolerate such acts on the people of Mao who have been continuously guarding Manipur's Kozri and Dzkou.
