Post-harvest technology training begins at KVK Hengbung

A three-day training programme on Post Harvest Technology was launched on Tuesday at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Campus, Hengbung in Sadar Hills Senapati District.
The training programme sponsored by Department of Bio-Technology, Government of India has been organized by Amity International Centre for Post Harvest Technology & Cold Chain Management (AICPHT&CCM), Amity University, Noida, UP in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hengbung.
While inaugurating the training programmeme, Dr BS Hansra, Professor, Amity International Centre for Post Harvest Technology & Cold Chain Management, Amity University, Noida, UP highlighted about the Amity University, Noida and its outreach programmes in India and abroad.
He also discussed in brief about the concept and importance of post harvest technology of vegetables and fruits while highlighting the newly introduced 2 years M.Sc.course in Horticulture (post Harvest Technology) and noted August 10 as last date for submission of application.
Naga Laxmi M Raman, Assistant Director and Dr Vigya Mishra, Assistant Professor both from Amity University and Nemnu Hangshing of KVK-Senapati were the resource persons in the technical sessions of the opening day of the training programme participated by more than 30 rural girls and boys from different parts of the district.
During the three-day training programme, the participants will be imparted hands on training on pineapple toffee making, pineapple juice, mango pickle, mango chutney, whole tomato concentrate and pineapple squash, said Deepak Kumar, Programme Coordinator (i/c), KVK-Hengbung.
