Gambler shot and wounded at Singjamei

Imphal, July 28 2015:
One 32 years old person, Ngangbam Robinson aka Naobi son of Ngangba of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai was shot and wounded in both legs by one policeman on Tuesday.
Sources said that a small group of persons were gambling inside a road side kiosk to while away their time during the general strike.
Some policemen from the Singjamei police station raided it and tried to whisk away them.
But the gamblers and local residents tried to dissuade them from taking away the persons since they were just passing time.
Following heated exchanges the policemen reportedly scooted after leaving their officer.
They returned with reinforcements from the Imphal police station.
It was alleged that indiscriminate shots were fired injuring Robinson at the left thigh and right calf.
He was evacuated to RIMS.
Talking to reporters Sanatomba, secretary of Singjamei Development Organisation said that the policeman involved in the firing of the rubber bullets should be suspended and booked.
Besides the government should fork out the money for payment of the medical bill for the victim.
Tension is running high.
But officials said that the situation is under control.
