ADC Council formation in Hill Dists on July 31

Imphal, July 28 2015:
One day after the Naga People's Front (NPF) called a 24-hour general strike against the unexplained delay on formation of councils and oath taking for Autonomous District Council (ADC) Chairmen, the Government on Tuesday notified for the election of ADC chairmen for four ADCs on July 31 in their respective District Headquarters.
A notification issued by Joint Secretary Tribal Affairs and Hills Amstrong Pame said, "the meeting for the Autonomous District Councils of the, Ukhrul, Churachanpur, Senapati and Sadar hills for electing the Chairmen will be held on July 31" .
The Government was yet to issue similar notification for Chandel and Tamenglong Districts, informed highly reliable source.
It may be mentioned that election result was declared on June 11 and oath taking ceremony was held on July 13 and July 24 in their respective district headquarters and some in Imphal.
However, the Government since then failed to notify the formation of councils and oath taking ceremony for the ADC Chairmen over a month.
The Naga People's Front (NPF) called 24 hour general strike from midnight of July 26 till July 27 midnight protesting against the unexplained delays in the formation of the councils.
