NIC meet to discuss communal harmony, terrorism

Imphal, August 29 2011:
Communal harmony, terrorism and possibly corruption would be discussed at the National Integration Council meeting to be presided by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on September 10 .
The 15th meeting is being held after a gap of two years and 10 months and the 147-members would be meeting for the first time after its reconstitution in April last year.
Official sources said the meeting will deliberate on steps taken by state governments on ensuring communal harmony.
This will be the first meeting of NIC after P.Chidambaram took over as Home Minister.
The Council also includes leaders of national and regional political parties, chairpersons of National Commissions, media persons, public figures, business leaders and representatives of women's organisations.
