AMCO appeals to relax blockade

Imphal, August 29 2011:
The All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) appealed to the leaders of both SHDDC and ANSAM to relax the ongoing indefinite blockades on the national highways at least for one week on humanitarian considerations.
Reverend Prim Vaiphei, President AMCO in a press release emailed to Hueiyen Lanpao also appealed to the state government, SHDDC, UNC and ANSAM to resolve the issues over Sadar Hills in amicable manners at the earliest as there are possibilities of the situation taking a grim turn which might go out of anyone's control.
While respecting the genuine grievances of the people and the sentiments over the issues, AMCO pray that actions to address the issues must also respect the human rights of common people, especially children and large population of poor people across all communities of the state, the release added.
It also stated that there are also sections of people of all the communities who share the grievances and concerns of the people of Sadar Hills issues and that their goodwill must also be respected.
The ongoing blockade and counter blockades on all the National Highways have already which directly affect the lives and rights of children and poor people, it added.
