Imphal, August 29 2011:
United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) has reshuffled its cabinet committee along with appointing SK Thadou as chairman, P Robert Singson as general secretary, Satgin Chongloi as home secretary, L Frankie as defence secretary, HS Rohit Gangte as information and publicity secretary, H Henry Haokip as external affairs secretary, Rohan Vaiphei as finance secretary and Max Kuki as chief of army.
Issuing a statement in this regard, UTLA general secretary P Robert Singson informed that the organisation is seriously considering reform process in three main areas namely restoration of peace, development in all fields including infrastructure, road, communication, education, health, etc and checking irregularities in NREGS and other Centrally sponsored schemes.
Maintaining that a breakthrough have already been achieved barely after 2 months of peace-parleys with the Government of Manipur through sincere mediation of Indian Army, Singson, however, pointed out that there have been increasing gap between the organisation and the Government of Manipur's approaches to the peace agenda even after all the points have been agreed upon by both the parties.
This phenomenon of widening gap could not only damage the gains likely to be registered by the people but also create confusion over the sincerity of the Government of Manipur in solving militancy, Singson cautioned, and added that this would be akin to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and the organisation should not be held responsible if the peace process fails.
