AR lives up Ramadan spirit

Living up to the spirit of Ramadan, 33 Assam Rifles under aegis of Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division, organized an Iftaar party at Phubakchao today.
More than 400 people alongwith invitees from varied walks of life joined their Muslim brethren in breaking the Ramadan fast today.
Col Naresh Bhardwaj, Commandant 33 Assam Rifles welcomed the guests personally on this auspicious occasion.
The Iftaar get-together began with a short recital of verses from the Quran by Kazi Maulana Sahib.
Delicacies specially prepared for the occasion were served during the Iftaar party.
Later, Muslims offered 'Maghrib' prayers and prayed for the wellbeing of the country and solidarity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Imam, said that the Ramadan is an auspicious month for the revelations of God to humankind, being the month in which the first verses of the 'Quran' were revealed to the Islamic Prophet Mohammad which teaches us all about patience spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God.
He heaped praises and gratitude for the Unit for having ushered in an era of peace and tranquility in this area, which was unthinkable earlier.
The Pradhan also thanked the unit for the arrangements as also for the continued efforts by the Security Forces to ensure peace and development in the area.
Among the dignitaries present were the Imphal West Police officials, Gram Pradhan and Councillors of various wards of the Imphal West constituency.
Such was the spirit of this great celebration that even a lot of non Muslim participated and appreciated the efforts of 33 Assam Rifles.
